Trump and Netanyahu have had some difficult phone calls before, but they have still worked closely together on Iran and other important matters. One U.S. official said this was one of the most tense conversations between Trump and Netanyahu since Trump returned to office.

Trump was reportedly upset because Netanyahu's decision to increase military action in Lebanon could damage the ongoing negotiations with Iran.

After the call, Trump wrote on Truth Social that the talks with Iran were still moving forward quickly.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu said he told Trump that Israel would strike targets in Beirut if Hezbollah continued its attacks on Israel. He also stated that Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon would continue.

"Our position has not changed," Netanyahu said.

However, another U.S. official claimed that Trump strongly pressured Netanyahu during the call. According to the official, Netanyahu eventually agreed and replied, "OK, OK, just make sure everything is handled."

Netanyahu's office did not respond to requests for comment.
